The Cumberland Council is seeking public input on a proposal for a single set of fares for Hackney Carriages across the region. The proposed Table of Fares will be reviewed by the Regulatory Committee in early 2025, with a final decision to follow after considering feedback.
Consultation Details
Members of the public, especially those in the taxi trade, are encouraged to submit feedback. Those in the taxi industry are asked to include detailed proposals with reasoning and figures where possible. All comments must be submitted through the official online consultation platform by Wednesday, 8 January 2025. Responses outside of this channel will not be considered.
Public Participation
Cllr Bob Kelly, the Councillor for Licensing and Regulatory Services, emphasized the importance of public input. "This consultation is an opportunity to have your say on the proposed taxi table of fares for Cumberland, and we want to consider as many views as possible," he said. He urged those interested to use the consultation platform to ensure their views are considered by the Licensing Authority.
Submission Guidelines
Taxi industry members are particularly encouraged to provide well-supported suggestions regarding the proposed fare structure. Public feedback on any aspect of the fare rates is also welcomed.
