Estonia’s MiCa Autonomous Vehicle Now Operating in West Palm Beach

MiCa, an autonomous vehicle developed by the Estonian company Auve Tech, has begun its operations in West Palm Beach, Florida, marking a significant step for both the company and the Estonian automotive industry. The vehicle, which has been granted US license plates, is now allowed to operate on a 1.5-kilometer track in open traffic. This pilot project showcases the potential of autonomous vehicles to address transportation challenges in urban areas.

Jessica Keller, the transportation and mobility capabilities manager for West Palm Beach, commented:

"West Palm Beach is proud to be the site of this pilot project that showcases innovation in solving transportation challenges."

Auve Tech founder Väino Kaldoja emphasized the importance of this project for the company, stating:

"The autonomous vehicles we created in Estonia are a daily occurrence in Japan, and increasingly in Europe and the Middle East. Entering the US market is a very big step for our company and the entire Estonian automotive industry."

The autonomous vehicle operates with the support of Guident’s remote monitoring technology, ensuring that the vehicle’s journey is continuously tracked in real time. The first phase of the project will last three months, during which the public will have the opportunity to ride the autonomous bus.
