The Spark Alliance will provide a seamless EV charging experience, uniting major brands to improve accessibility across Europe’s 11,000 charging points.

Four leading electric vehicle (EV) charging companies in Europe have come together to create Spark Alliance, which will become the largest public EV charging network on the continent. The alliance was confirmed by the CEOs of Atlante, Electra, Fastned, and IONITY during a press event held on April 2 at the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée in Paris. The goal of this collaboration is to simplify the charging experience for EV owners and to contribute to the mass adoption of electric mobility in Europe.
The Spark Alliance will provide a unified charging network for drivers, allowing them to access over 11,000 high-quality charging points spread across 25 European countries. The initiative aims to address the confusion that EV owners often face when navigating through multiple apps, operators, and pricing structures. With Spark Alliance, drivers will be able to charge their vehicles at any of the participating stations without needing to download different apps or use multiple payment methods.
Michiel Langezaal, co-founder and CEO of Fastned, explained the frustration many EV drivers experience with the existing charging infrastructure:
"Electric drivers face a confusing maze of apps, cards, and poor charging stations. Spark Alliance unites Europe’s top charging firms to offer a seamless experience across the largest network, standing out as a trusted, quality option that simplifies charging and boosts EV adoption."
By using the app of their preferred charging operator, drivers will be able to locate charging stations from any of the participating companies. This is set to improve convenience for EV owners, allowing them to find and use stations on their journey easily. In addition, all stations within the network will provide 100% renewable energy, reinforcing the alliance's commitment to sustainability.
The Spark Alliance marks a significant step forward in the transition to electric mobility, aiming to boost driver confidence and support the shift to a fossil-free future. By joining forces, the companies involved in this initiative hope to make long-distance travel easier and more accessible for electric vehicle owners across Europe.
