London Stansted Airport will use ANPR technology in the ESD area to streamline drop-offs, improve efficiency, and reduce congestion.

London Stansted Airport will launch a barrier-free vehicle system for its Express Set Down (ESD) area on January 22. The system, powered by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, aims to ease congestion and improve the drop-off and pick-up experience.
Drivers must complete payments online or via phone by midnight the following day, as in-person payments will not be accepted. Vehicles cannot be left unattended.
Benefits for Frequent Users
Frequent users, including taxi drivers, can set up accounts for automatic payments. Discounts for eligible nearby residents will remain unchanged.
Enhanced Efficiency
Anita Harrison, customer operations director, said:
"The ANPR technology will make dropping off and picking up passengers quicker and more convenient, reducing driver waiting times."
Key Updates
Signs will inform drivers of the new system, with full details available on the airport's website. The Stansted Airport set to implement new vehicle system was first announced last December.
