A taxi driver has been arrested and charged with drink driving after failing a roadside breathalyser test. Robert Lenox, 64, from Boyneswood Close in Alton, was stopped by police on Thursday, March 6, following public reports that he had been driving while intoxicated. Similar concerns over taxi drivers' conduct have been raised elsewhere, such as in a recent case where a Workington taxi driver's licence was denied due to regulatory issues.
Legal Proceedings and Public Safety
Authorities confirmed that Lenox exceeded the legal alcohol limit and was taken into custody. He has been formally charged and is set to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 20.
Police spokesperson stated:
”If you believe someone is drink driving, contact the police.”
