POLICE are investigating a racially aggravated assault in Bournemouth, which took place on January 5th, 2025. Around 11:50 PM, officers were alerted to the incident on Holdenhurst Road, where a taxi driver was assaulted by a man who had approached the passenger side of the vehicle.
Details of the Assault
The suspect began shouting and swearing at the taxi driver, using racial slurs, which prompted the passenger in the taxi to exit the vehicle. The situation escalated when the man physically assaulted the driver, causing an injury to his eye.
Police Investigation and Appeal for Information
Police Constable Morgan Dew of Bournemouth Police commented:
"This was a frightening and unprovoked assault that has had a significant impact on the victim."
The police are now looking to identify the suspect and have released an image of the man involved. The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
