A man and a woman were assaulted at a taxi rank in York by two suspects they had encountered earlier on a night out, North Yorkshire Police have reported. The violent altercation occurred at Duncombe Place between 04:00 and 04:30 GMT on Wednesday, 6 November.

The man suffered severe injuries, including black eyes and a broken nose. The victims had met the suspects at the Drawing Board bar earlier in the evening, and the suspects allegedly followed them to the taxi rank.

Police have released CCTV images of two men they wish to question regarding the incident. Both are described as being between their late 20s and early 40s.

One suspect is short, with blonde hair, a receding hairline, a larger build, and was reportedly wearing a leather jacket resembling a bar uniform. The second suspect is tall, with a beard, glasses, light brown hair, and a receding hairline.

The attack highlights concerns about cross-border safety issues in taxi ranks and the need for stricter licencing enforcement for private hire services. Drivers and passengers alike are urged to stay vigilant during late-night commutes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact North Yorkshire Police.
