Allianz Partners, Uber, and Indeez Launch Vehicle Interruption Cover for UK Uber Drivers
Allianz Partners, Uber, and Indeez have introduced Vehicle Interruption Cover (VIC) , an innovative insurance product designed to protect the income of Uber drivers in the UK when their vehicles are out of service.
This groundbreaking initiative marks the first time such a benefit has been launched in the UK for Uber drivers, showcasing a commitment to the gig economy workforce.
Protecting Drivers During Downtime
The Vehicle Interruption Cover aims to ensure financial stability for Uber drivers whose vehicles are temporarily off the road.
Available exclusively to drivers enrolled in the Uber Pro programme, VIC is accessed through a subscription in the Uber driver app.
The program delivers a seamless digital experience powered by the advanced technology of Indeez , an insurtech broker specializing in innovative insurance solutions.
Part of a Broader Protection Plan
VIC is the latest addition to the comprehensive Partners Protection Programme offered by Allianz Partners and Uber.
This program already provides essential benefits such as workplace accident and injury coverage, sick pay, and maternity/paternity leave support. By introducing VIC, the companies have strengthened their portfolio, further addressing the unique needs of gig workers.
Jean-Marc Pailhol , Chief Officer Global Strategic Partnerships at Allianz Partners said:
“Vehicle Interruption Cover is an extremely important add-on to the product offering we have jointly developed with Uber,”
“Our goal is to become the largest provider of insurance and assistance solutions for gig economy workers in Europe, and this product is another step to achieving that.”
Enhancing Driver Experience
Uber has emphasized the importance of supporting its drivers through financial protection during unexpected vehicle downtimes.
Hendrik Todte , Director of Uber Affinity UK, stated:
“We are keen to offer VIC to our Driving Partners. It is a seamless experience, and in the unfortunate case of an accident, drivers can benefit from financial protection to bridge potential downtime.”
Commitment to Inclusivity in Insurance
Indeez, the technological backbone of this initiative, is dedicated to fostering inclusive insurance options for gig workers.
Vikas Chhariya , Founder and CEO of Indeez, remarked:
“At Indeez, we're excited to launch Vehicle Interruption Cover with Allianz Partners and Uber, supporting UK Uber drivers when their vehicles are off the road. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable, inclusive insurance that fuels partner growth.”
Expanding Benefits to More Markets
While currently available in the UK, Allianz Partners, Uber, and Indeez plan to expand Vehicle Interruption Cover to other markets where Uber operates. This global rollout aligns with the companies' shared vision of providing peace of mind to their driver community worldwide.
Allianz Partners, Uber, and Indeez’s collaboration underscores their leadership in innovation within the gig economy, offering financial protection that empowers drivers to sustain their livelihoods despite unforeseen challenges.
