A four-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a taxi on South Gyle Broadway in Edinburgh. The incident occurred at around 3:15pm near Burne Cruik, while the child was using a pedestrian crossing. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the boy was transported to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, where he was treated for minor injuries. This case draws attention to a pattern of similar pedestrian-related taxi accidents, such as when an elderly man was hit by a taxi in Stockport and rushed to hospital.
The taxi involved, identified as a black people carrier, initially stopped at the scene. However, the driver left without providing any contact details and drove off towards South Gyle Access Road. Authorities are now actively searching for the driver.
Constable Kristof Hona appealed for public assistance:
"We are appealing for the driver, or anyone that knows who the driver is, to come forward. If you were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage that could be useful in our investigation, get in touch."
Police have urged witnesses to contact them on 101, quoting reference 2002 of April 15, 2025.
”We are appealing for the driver, or anyone that knows who the driver is, to come forward. If you were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage that could be useful in our investigation, get in touch.”
