XPeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has officially entered the UK market with its all-electric G6 SUV. The company aims to establish itself in the competitive UK EV industry by opening over 20 dealerships by the end of 2025. Pre-orders for the G6 are now open, with prices starting at £39,990. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in March 2025.
As the UK continues to see significant growth in EV adoption, advancements in auto trends, EV adoption, and AI in cars are shaping consumer preferences and industry strategies.
Dr. Brian Gu, vice chairman and president of XPeng, highlighted the significance of this launch, stating:
"Our UK launch and partnership with International Motors Ltd (IML) marks a major milestone in XPeng’s international expansion strategy."
XPeng’s Expansion and Strategy in the UK
XPeng is entering the UK market strategically, working with International Motors Ltd (IML) to ensure sustainable growth. The company sees the UK as an important market due to the upcoming 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicle sales.
William Brown, managing director of IML, expressed optimism about XPeng’s prospects:
"We're really excited about the opportunity that XPeng represents. They've got a fantastic product lineup that we believe will resonate strongly with UK consumers."
In addition to the G6, XPeng plans to introduce more models, including the P7+ electric saloon, the G9 flagship SUV, and the X9 seven-seater. The company also showcased its experimental X2 flying car, developed by its vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) subsidiary.
XPeng’s Global Growth and Industry Partnerships
XPeng has been expanding rapidly across Europe, having first entered the market in Norway in 2021. Since then, it has launched in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. The company aims to expand to over 60 countries and regions by the end of 2025.
In January 2025, XPeng announced key strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse. These partnerships focus on developing a super-fast EV charging network and exploring additional services.
Founded in 2014, XPeng has delivered more than 620,000 EVs globally. The company specializes in smart electric vehicles integrated with artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technology, positioning itself as a major competitor in the global EV market.
